That's odd. I've never seen it happen. I agree with others that the auto upgrade is a good tool. It got me out of troubles quite a number of times.. not only with wordpress but other programs too (I'm talking here about hosting based updates).

That's strange! I've never had that happen before. I did the upgrade however and it feels good to have it out of the way.

Wow, that IS a weird problem. I agree with Barry...I always wait a while until the initial issues come to the surface. Sorry that happened though. Hopefully new versions will fix it. One suggestion for upgrading...the WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin is a fantastic tool for smoothly upgrading. Better luck in the future. :)

I wish I had waited a few weeks for the glitches to be fixed - I'm running 2.5 and I've had quite a few problems - The biggest being permalink structure.

You're smart for waiting. Good job. :)

I always wait a few extra weeks before moving over to a new version of WP. Besides the glitches, WP plugins are usually updated a month or three behind the WP platform (and I have a few plugins I just can't live without). Your problem sounds very strange for the 2.3.3 to 2.5 upgrade, I would probably look into the MySQL database and see if it has received an update to the WP admin section. There are several files there that should be updated in the process.

I would also do a manual upgrade, Fantastico is famous for leaving behind remnants of WP code from old versions. I would suggest using a DB manager plugin to clean up your database for any old 2.3.3 files that were not renamed correctly.
