The doors to PLRpro are opening again today at 9:00 a.m.. If you’ve been waiting for your chance to join this fantastic PLR content site here’s your chance!

Note: that time above was wrong. It was supposed to be 9:00 pm PST but I think it will be more like 11 PM. Sorry.

I decided to check out PLRPro a few months ago when the doors to this membership site last opened, and I must say that I’m impressed with the content, the resources and the level of service.

I’m impressed, not just because of the quality they bring to the table in regards to PLR Content, but also because of the additional education and material that they provide for free. In fact, something you’ll probably want to checkout before you join PLRPro is their http://www.ninetydaychallenge.net site which takes a user from start to finish, and they offer that for free.

When I first joined PLRpro there were offering the following:

440 articles across 11 niches (40 articles in each niche)

Full keyword research in each niche

Affiliate lists for each niche

Header Graphics for each niche

5 Website Templates each month

Articles done in 8 languages

50 PR4 sites that you can get links from to get your sites indexed and crawled

In addition to the above I also joined because they were creating a new system, Project Green Button, which would make it easy to create HTML and eventually Wordpress Websites within minutes.

“Imagine A “Push Button” System That Automates 95% Of Site Creation, Content Creation and Traffic Generation… Now Open Your Eyes, That “Push Button” System Is Here…”

I’ve had a chance to use the Project Green Button or PGB software and I’m impressed. Right now this software is in Phase One and with PGB you’ll be able to

Site Creation – Automatically building HTML sites that are fully structured and ready to go with perfect onpage optimization in just 3 minutes (you can do it in under 60 seconds but you have to type fast…) that requires zero technical knowledge.

Content Management – 440 articles each month across 11 niches

Site Templates – 25 beautiful templates as the initial “bank of templates” from which you can draw upon to build your niche sites

Adsense Monetization – Stage one of PGB introduces the core monetization method behind building an income online… Adsense. Stage two will add additional monetization such as Kontera, Clickbank, eBay and Amazon.

Full Silo Keyword Search – Each and every niche has all of this already done for you so you don’t need to go search for the next greatest keyword…just look for, and find an ideal keyword for maximum traffic and speed. The keyword research for each niche is done in an easily laid out Excel sheet that you can quickly glance at and find perfectly targeted long tail keywords to start generating traffic in as little as 5 days.

10,000 strong blog network – This networks makes it easy to get one way backlinks via PLRpro’s Article Marketing Automation system. As a Member of PLRpro you’ll get access to this system completely free of charge.

RSS Feed Submission module

Social bookmarking poster module

PGB desktop command center. You simply install the PGB software on you computer and from there you can access the site building software and traffic related modules.

$0-6000 a month training plan – If you follow the system that the guys at PLRpro have put together you should be able to make between $2000 and $6000 every month.

There are many additional features that are available right now too many to tell you about in this article! Product reviews, the ability to drag and drop YouTube videos into your articles, aided rewriting of your articles to make them unique, weekly live training and more! Plus Project Green Button isn’t finished! There will be a second and third phase which will add even more modules that will assist in the building of site and generating traffic.

They could easily charge double or triple what they are charging for membership.

I’ve used the system to create a few sites and it works. I’m pleased with the sites I’ve created, I’m pleased with the quality of the PLR content and I’m excited about Project Green Button.

Now, as I said at the beginning of this article PLRpro is opening it’s doors this morning and it will likely only be for a short time as there are only 262 spots to fill. That’s it. When those 262 memberships are taken the doors will be closed again and likely won’t open again until sometime in 2009.

So if all that I’ve written above sounds like it might be something you’re interested in please go and check out the PLRpro website today.

OK, I’ve seen all the GURU’s talking about it for months now so i decided to finally go and check out what all the fuss was about. I joined a membership site called PLRpro a little over a month ago. I haven’t actually used any of the articles I’ve received on any of my sites yet, but I will be soon. The quality of the articles are very good.

Just like you I was a little skeptical at first, but I have to say I was SERIOUSLY impressed. The quality of there PLR content was great, but what I was really amazed with was the amount of free resources that were in there. I thought I was just signing up for content but with all the resources in there it’s been like my own personal coaching from the experts.

In fact, if you want to see what I’m talking about have a look at http://www.ninetydaychallenge.net It’s a fool proof system, it tells you exactly what to do, where to do it and on what day to do it on from start to finish and guarantees you’ll make money.

Anyway, here’s a basic overview of what your PLRPro membership contains:

440 articles across 11 niches (40 articles in each niche)
Full keyword research in each niche
Affiliate lists for each niche
Header Graphics for each niche
5 Website Templates each month
Articles done in 8 languages
50 PR4 sites that you can get links from to get your sites indexed and crawled

I’ve also found that they’ve added new resources in the month I’ve been with them and there are some fantastic additions to the service planned for October. I can’t wait!

PLUS here’s a few of the things they normally keep secret:

You’ll have access to their Automized Site Builder
Specialized Wordpress Installer
Automatic Wordpress Uploader
181 Page VRE Handbook (I’ve slowly been going through this and it’s very helpful)
SEO Training (includes 6 part Video Program)
PPC Training
Plus more….

They really do put together the full package… you’re not just paying for content, with all the extra’s this is probably the only membership you’ll ever need.

As far as the PLR Content game is concerned, they truly offer the best package out there bar none.

If you don’t believe me, check out what others have to say at PLRpro.

On Sunday as I was looking some of my blogs that share the same domain I noticed that the “A new version of WordPress is available! Please update now.” message had disappeared. I didn’t think much of it, but a while later when I happened to scroll to the bottom of the page I noticed that it said my WP version was 2.5.

That was strange. You see, the blog I was working with had just been updated to version 2.3.3 using files stored on my computer. The same files that I’d used to update a few blogs on my other domains over the last couple of weeks.

I went and looked at each of the other blogs that I’d updated from 2.1 or 2.2 to version 2.3 and those that were on their own domain still said they were using WP version 2.3.3, but all of the blogs that are located on my Feverishthoughts.com domain – even the ones that are still using much older versions of WP say that they are using WordPress version 2.5 now.

I checked the files for each of the now 2.5 blogs using FTP and by looking at them using my hosting c-panel and there were no extra files that shouldn’t be there. I even checked my web hosts Fantastico version of WP and they are still only using the 2.3.3 upgrade so there’s no way that they did some kind of automatic WP upgrade on my behalf.

The fact of the matter is that the blogs that now say they are using WP version 2.5 are still really using whatever version of WP that they had been prior to my discovery. Nothings changed in the admin panel – you know the new look that 2.5 is supposed to have? Everything about the way the admin area of my blogs are set up are still the same.

So why do some of my blogs say they are using WP version 2.5? Is it some kind of WP glitch? If it is, why don’t my blogs that are on their own domain now also falsely say they are using 2.5?

Has anyone else noticed this strange problem?

BTW I do plan on upgrading all my sites to WP 2.5 shortly, but I’d like to wait a few weeks to be sure that most of the glitches are out of the latest version. I also want to make sure that the plugins that I’m using have upgrades that work with 2.5 as well.

So for now I’ll stick with 2.3 which the majority of my sites are now using and those that aren’t will be upgraded within a few days. Just upgrading to 2.3 has been a pain because I had to widgetize some sites and change from really old themes with function calls that didn’t work with 2.3 to newer themes. For some blogs upgrading has been a total overhaul!

Earlier today as I was surfing the net and reading some of the blogs I favor I came across an article about a new plugin that will help you prepare your Wordpress installation for an upgrade to version 2.3.3 and coming soon WP 2.5.

The Wordpress plugin is called the WordPress Upgrade Preflight Plugin. The current version, 1.1, is meant for those who are about to upgrade their WP installation to 2.3.

The Preflight Check plugin will attempt to check your other plugins and themes for any problems that might cause errors when upgrading. It apparently also works in 2.3 and may help identify the cause of any current errors as well.

As I stated in March I was slowly going through my sites and upgrading them from Wordpress versions 2.1 and 2.2 to 2.3. I have a lot of blogs and to be perfectly honest with you I still have four left to upgrade!

I’m using some highly customized older themes on a few of my blogs and as I’ve upgraded I’ve found code that I had to alter to work with WP 2.3. I also had to update a number of plugins. This was time consuming work. I’m sure the Preflight Check plugin will make finishing my upgrades to my final four WP blogs a lot easier. Of course I’ve already updated the plugins.

The plugin author is currently working on a version for WP 2.5 so if you’re planning on upgrading to 2.5 soon be sure to check the Preflight Check page for updates.

Oh and don’t forget to backup your Wordpress database and files before you do any upgrades! I use the Wordpress Database Plugin which allows you to not only backup your files to the server, but to have your backup emailed to you as well. You can also schedule regular backups too.

I have a lot of blogs. A LOT of blogs. I’ve been delaying updating them because I knew it would take forever.

I’ve slowly been updating my installations over the past week. For my newer domains it wasn’t such a problem because I could use Fantastico to update them … and since their newish they weren’t all that out of date.

However all my older blogs, including this one, moved servers twice last year and I lost the ability to automatically update with Fantastico when I moved the sites to new servers. If I’d done fresh installations using Fantastico to install WP on the domains and directories first and then transfered my former databases into the new installations I could have avoided this problem, but that’s not the way things worked out.

Oh well … I don’t mind manual updating the blogs. It just takes time.

I’ve had a problem with my blogs for a little while. My problems started back when the Bad Behavior plugin had a problem a couple of months ago. Remember something with the blacklists went wrong and it blocked people out of their WP installations until they either turned off their plugin or updated it? Well I did the update and I updated my Google Sitemaps plugin at the same time and ever since then I had an error message whenever I published an article (on 7 different blogs!) and I don’t think my do follow plugin was working correctly either.

Well now, along with updating this blog to WP 2.3.3 I’ve also updated Bad Behavior (it’s latest version is 2.0.13 if your keeping track) and Google Sitemaps ( Version 3.0.3). At first I thought I still had a problem, but I refreshed the permalinks and tada – it’s all working well again.

I wasn’t that far behind in updating Wordpress. I think this blog was 2.2 … so it hasn’t been that long since I updated. However, WP has done a lot of updates in recent months and between the problems I was having with the plugins and being behind in upgrading WP I knew it was time to upgrade. I won’t fall so far behind again!

So far I’ve updated 6 new domains plus this domain. Now I’ve got 7 blogs on Feverishthoughts.com and one on yet another domain to manually upgrade. It will probably be a few days before I’m completely done … sigh.

Can you believe this?

Yesterday evening I was using my laptop and my email program, Eudora, was acting up. For some reason it freezes up when I visit websites that have flash on them. So I rebooted my computer in order to get my email to work properly again.

When I rebooted my IP address must have changed. I’m with Rogers.com and my IP address can sometimes change each time I log on to my computer or I might have the same IP for weeks or months on end. Usually this doesn’t cause any kind of problem for me.

So I’m working on my computer, checking my mail and I try to moderate some of the comments that have come in on the blogs that I maintain. I can’t do it.

I got an error message stating that my IP has been marked as spam and blacklisted. I was given a Key that I can use to solve the problem myself, but of course that only resulted in an error message. The other option I was given was to write to the moderator of the site. In other words write to myself?

I didn’t clue in right away as to what the problem was. I tried going into my Wordpress admin section to see if I had added the particular IP address that I seemed to have been assigned by Rogers to the WP ADMIN Options Discussion section. Nope. It wasn’t there. I’d only blocked a few IP addresses on my home and garden blog and no others.

Naturally by this time I’d been trying to solve the problem for at least half an hour and I was starting to freak out a little bit as I had at least 7 sites that I could no longer moderate comments on! I also assumed that I wouldn’t be able to write a new post either.

I eventually logged into my web hosting account and opened up the file manager in C-Panel. I checked to see if any new files had been added that I hadn’t placed on the server. I also opened up PHP MyAdmin to check my sites databases to see if I could remove the blocked IP. I did find the blacklist and determined that it was from my Bad Behavior plugin. I tried to remove the blocked IP address from my MySQL database and then I rebooted my computer again.

Uh … now I couldn’t even log into any of the blogs that I maintain on my feverishthoughts.com domain. I didn’t bother to try any of my other domains as I assumed they would also be affected.

By this time I’d probably wasted an hour and a half and comments were piling up and I had posts I needed to write. I was getting frustrated.

The best solution I came up with was to go into my hosting account and change the name of the bad-behavior plugin folder in order to deactivate the plugin on the sites in question.

It worked. I could now log into my sites and moderate comments, create posts and so on.

However I no longer have the wonderful spam protection that I got from the Bad Behavior plugin.

I’ve been using Bad Behavior for about a year and it’s been wonderful. Just turn it on and it automatically blocks spam before it even gets into your comment moderation list. Prior to using Bad Behavior I was sometimes getting 400 to 500 comments spam messages each day on some of my busier sites!

There is a way to edit the whitelist file and I suppose I’ll have to do that sometime today as I’m still assigned the same IP address that caused all these problems yesterday evening.

The only other spam protection that I use on my blogs is the built in Akismet plugin that comes with Wordpress. Up until now that combination has been sufficient. I may look into also using Spam Karma.

Have you ever had your own IP address blocked by your spam protection software?

UPDATE:

If you are using Bad Behavior it was updated today. Yesterday the creator of the Bad Behavior plugin moved servers and accidentally decommissioned an old blacklist that he thought wasn’t being used by Bad Behavior anymore. Unfortunately it was and many users of the Bad Behavior plugin found themselves locked out of their own sites as a result.

The plugin has now been updated to version 2.0.11 and it should resolve the problem. I’m about to update this plugin on all my sites now.

I’m thankful that the plugin creator was so quick to resolve the problem that he inadvertently created. I’d be lost without my Bad Behavior plugin protection. Yes, that’s just how good Bad Behavior really is – try it for yourself.

I spend time on a variety of blogging and webmaster related forums and quite often, when someone switches from a free blogging platform such as blogger to hosting their own website they are confused by … well, a lot of things since everything is new to them, but FTP seems to one major source of confusion.

If you are new to using an FTP program in order to upload files to your server I would suggest that you use the free program FileZilla. While it’s true that some hosting programs have created a simplified version of FTP that is very easy to use directly from your hosting account (I believe) most do not provide this service and you must use external FTP programs to move large files.

You might be asking yourself “why would you need an FTP program in the first place?” Well, if you are a blogger you might want to find new themes or plugins to use on your blog. Most themes and plugins have a number of files packaged together in a folder. While it’s true that you could upload the zipped file into your Wordpress -> Content -> themes or Plugin folder on your server using the c-panel File manage it is often much faster and easier to use an external FTP program.

As I said I would recommend download the easy to use FileZilla as your FTP progam.

Go to the site and click on “Download FileZilla Client – all programs” button.

Once you do that you’ll be presented with a few choices. If you are using Windows as your computers operating system you might want to download the setup.exe file.

Once you’ve download the program to your computer you’ll need to unzip the file if you download the zipped version or if you download the exe version simply double click on the file once you’ve located it.

You will probably use this program quite often once you get used to it, so you might want to select the option to have a desktop icon during the installation process.

Once the program is installed you can click on the icon to open the program and set it up so that it will connect with your web hosting account.

You may have to refer back to your hosting account or perhaps the email that your web host sent you when they first set up your account. They should have provided some information as to what you should use as a FTP address for your domain.

The FTP address will be something like ftp.mydomain.com

To set up your FileZilla so that it connects with your hosting server you’ll have to click on FILE -> Site Manager when the FileZilla program is open.

Click on New Site on the left side of the box that pops up.

Then begin filling out the requested information on the right:

Host – ftp.mydomain.com (your FTP address)

LogonType – select Normal

Username – fill in the user name that you use to log on to your hosting account

Password – fill in the password you use when you log on to your hosting account

Click on the OK button to save your information.

Now, you should have the main FileZilla program open in front of you.

To connect to your hosting site you should be able to click on the first icon to the left. This will open the Site Manager again and from there you can click on the new site that you just created. This might literally be named “new site”. You might want to take the time to give it a real name, perhaps your domain name.

Click Connect at the bottom of the box. If all goes well Filezilla will begin to connect to your hosting account.

Now to make things really simple you might want to go into the advanced tab in the Site Manager.

There you can specify a location on your computer that will always open up and show the files within that area when you use FileZilla. I usually select my computers desktop as that is where I download new themes and plugins for my blogs.

You can also specify the default remote directory that should always open when FileZilla connects with your hosting server. You usually want to be in your Public_Html directory on your host. You might try simply typing in – /public_html/ and see if that works the next time you connect. Your web host might have sent you information about which directory you should connect to via your FTP program. The path /public_html/ which works for me may not be the correct one that you should use on your hosting account.

If you have any trouble connecting or staying connected you might want to go back to site manager and look at the properties that you’ve set up for your FTP domain. Some web hosts prefer that we use passive transfer settings when we connect to their servers. To change from the default transfer mode simply click on the tab that says Transfer Settings and select Passive, then OK. Now try connecting and see if that works better for you.

Once you are connected, all your server files are on the right. You can get to the directory on your server that you need to upload files to simply by double clicking the folders until you’ve opened the one you want.

For example:

If you want to upload a new theme for your wordpress blog you’d find the Wp-Content directory for that blog, then double click Wp-content to open that folder, then double click on the Themes folder.

Once that’s open you can locate the new theme on your computer that you’d like to upload to your hosting account, right click while holding your mouse over the file and the files will begin to transfer over to the folder on your hosting account that you’ve selected.

This also works in reverse.

If you wanted to modify a file on your server you first might want to save the unmodified version onto your desktop just in case something goes wrong. Call it insurance! Click on file or folder in your hosting account and select download. The file will be transfered to whatever file or folder is open on the “my computer” side of filezilla so make sure you have the right folder open! Again – the desktop is always good for downloads. You can move files to the area you really want to save them to once they are on your computer.

There, now you know something about FTP if you were a total FTP virgin before reading this.

Good Luck!

Over the last year I’ve been experimenting with various ways to monetize my websites and blogs. Some affiliate programs have worked well and others have only netted me no more than a few cents! I’m sure you’ve had the same experiences and what works for one website owner might not work for another because it all depends upon our blog category and audience.

I’ve written about some of the programs I’ve tried on this site, WebStyle and of course my main blog Tricia’s Musings either as I’ve added them to one or many sites or after I’d been using them for a while.

I’ve been using Amazon on my main website for a number of years. I can’t remember exactly when Amazon started up it’s affiliate program but I’ve been using since the late 90’s I believe! In those early years I made quite a bit of money with Amazon and it was in fact the only way I monetized my website. These days I still make money with Amazon, but no where near as much as I used to due to changes in the program and I suppose a huge increase in the overall amount of affiliates!

I added the WP-Amazon wordpress plugin to my blogs a couple of months ago, but I’ve yet to really get going with using it. I think I’ve only created two affiliate links within my posts so far! Shame on me. Part of making money with affiliate programs is using them when appropriate. Of course I can still go over my old posts and add some Amazon links to them.

Text Link Ads has also been a very successful program for me. I joined a couple of years ago when I only had one HTML based website. I could never figure out how to get Text link ads to work on that site though! (if anyone can help me with this I’d really appreciate it! I know there’s a way to do it.) So I didn’t earn anything on my account until I got around to starting some blogs in 2006.

Google Adsense has worked out fairly well for me too. I don’t earn anywhere near as much as I think I could be making with the program, but I earn more than enough to get paid every month by Google. Again, I only had Google Adsense on my two websites for the longest time. Then sometime last year I put it on a couple of blogs but not my busiest ones. I’ve now rectified that mistake and I use Google Adsense and the utilize the Adsense Deluxe plugin on all of my blogs.

I only added Google Adsense to my busiest blogs about a month ago and I’ve already almost doubled my income. Hopefully once the Google Media bot fully indexes those sites I’ll really start to do well with Google Adsense. I’m still of course going over old posts and using the Adsense Deluxe plugin to add ad blocks to older posts. I don’t like to use them in my newest posts. Perhaps I’d earn more if I did, but I prefer not to irritate my regular readers with too many ads. Those coming in from search engines to the older posts will get the full extent of the advertising on my sites.

This actually brings up a good point.

When you monetize your sites do you consider how it might appear to your visitors? We’ve all seen sites with far too much advertising and for me it’s a total turn off. Links everywhere, advertising to the full extent, all kinds of different affiliate program banners and so on … I try not to do that. As I’ve just said I’ve been going back to older posts and adding in a bit more advertising, but I still try to keep it as tasteful as possible.

Everyone’s got to find their own balance between developing content, advertising and continuing to build traffic. Too much advertising can make people close your site and never return.

It’s fine to experiment with different affiliate programs. Even trying different badges and products to advertise on your site with each company. Just don’t try everything at once. If you overwhelm your visitors they won’t click on your ads. They’ll just click over to another persons website.

How do you monetize your sites? Do you think you’ve accomplished that fine balance that allows you to successfully monetize your site while keeping your visitors happy?

What programs do you use to monetize your site? I’ll discuss other programs that I’ve been using successfully in future posts.

This is really starting to tick me off.

At about 9:30 pm last night the index.php file on my main blog domain Feverishthoughts.com was accessed repeatedly. I received a note from Hostgator shortly after this happened telling me about the problem and also saying that they’d shut down access [...]

I’m having site problems yet again.

This is really starting to tick me off.

At about 9:30 pm last night the index.php file on my main blog domain Feverishthoughts.com was accessed repeatedly. I received a note from Hostgator shortly after this happened telling me about the problem and also saying that they’d shut down access to that directory.

At least this time round it’s a little better than when I was with Lunarpages. They’ve actually been able to tell me specifically what time the problem occurred and which domain was affected. They also only shut down that domain rather than my whole account. So at least I’ve got two blogs and two websites still functioning.

At this point – 3:30 a.m. I’ve been going back and forth with support. I think we’ve exchanged email three times now. The last one stated that they’d let me back into my directory to add the wp-cache plugin to my site and then monitor my directory after that.

The thing is that I’m already using wp-cache. So I just wrote back to them and told them that. I also told them that all my plugins and blogs are up to date.

Hopefully they’ll activate my directory again and monitor it as they said.

I have no idea what’s going on. I don’t know if the domain was under some kind of attack or if I just had too many visitors all at once. I really don’t know. I suspect a bot attack of some kind as I’ve been getting hit with a lot more spam across all my blogs lately and bad behavior and akismet just aren’t cutting it.

I know that I certainly don’t need to be having site troubles this weekend! It’s a long weekend and I’ve got a family reunion going on with my brothers and sisters. I won’t be home much and when I am home I’ll probably have guests so if my main blog domain isn’t back up soon and or if it runs into trouble over the next four days I just won’t be able to deal with it. Which sucks.

I keep flirting with the issue of possibly having to move my sites to VPS. Hostgator doesn’t offer VPS. They have Semi-dedicated which is still part of their shared account service and then they have dedicated servers. Their semi-dedicated package offers just about everything I have with my current account but I believe it has much higher CPU resource limits. That’s something I have to check on. Semi-dedicated costs $74.95 per month. Big jump from what I’m paying now.

So again. If anyone has any advice for me or can suggest a hosting company that offers VPS, hopefully at a reasonable price I’d appreciate it. I want to deal with this issue before my sites end up being totally shut down like they were in July with that other webhost I was using.

BTW 4 a.m. my feverishthoughts.com domain is back up and running. Fingers crossed that it behaves now.

I’ve had a problem with some of my blogs in the past month and a half or so. When I first set up a few of my blogs on my feverishthoughts.com domain I didn’t create sub-domains. Instead I created the new blogs as directories within the feverishthoughts.com domain.

So instead of my gardening blog being located at garden.feverishthoughts.com it’s located at feverishthoughts.com/garden/. It wasn’t my smartest move, but that’s not my current problem. I’ve purchased new domains for some of the directory blogs and I’ll eventually move those blogs to their own domains once the new domains have gained some page rank.

The problem that I’m having is that about a month and a half ago I noticed that some of my directory domains – not all of them, just half – are acting up. If you visit the site and include the backslash at the end of the address the url works properly, but if you don’t include the slash at the end or if you click on the header or a “home” button the new site url will contain my primary domain url in it as well.

One of the sites that is doing this is my husbands blog Odd Planet. If you visit the site as I’ve just listed the url it looks fine, but click on the Odd Planet logo on the upper left hand side of the page and the url comes up as:

http://feverishthoughts.thewebfiles.com/oddplanet/

Thewebfiles.com is the primary domain on my hosting account. Feverishthoughts.com and my other domains are addon domains.

On my main Feverishthoughts website – Tricia’s Musings, I have a 301 redirect code in my htaccess file that places the www in the url as my site has higher PR if the www is in the url. However, all the rest of the the blogs on that domain have higher PR if there is no www in their url so I’m using a nowww wordpress plugin to redirect those urls.

Trouble is that the plugin doesn’t seem to be working lately. Hmm maybe I should try re-installing that plugin. The current copy might have been damaged in all the server transfers my sites have gone through lately. I doubt that’s the problem, but I’ll give it a try.

The htaccess file on my primary domain Thewebfiles.com only contains the coding that Wordpress places in it and nothing else.

The htacess file that I’ve altered in the root of feverishthoughts.com contains:

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^(www\.|$) [NC]
RewriteRule ^ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

# END WordPress

The section that I bolded is the portion of the code that redirects to www, the rest of the coding is placed there by Wordpress when it is first installed.

I placed that code in the feverishthoughts.com htaccess in mid-May and all my directory related blogs under feverishthoughts.com were working fine.

I believe it was mid-June when I noticed that some of my directory blogs had thewebfiles.com in their urls under certain circumstances. I don’t believe I added any plugins or altered any code during this time period.

The problem might not have occurred in mid-June as I believe it did though, it might have occurred after June 26th when Lunarpages moved my whole account to another server when they stated that I was having CPU resource issues. They then moved my account again temporarily to a VPS server on July 23rd after they’d suspended my shared hosting account. Read my CPU Resource issue problems or my story about changing hosts if you need to catch up on that issue! (I’ll be posting a more detailed story about my issues with Lunarpages tomorrow)

I’ve since moved to HostGator (July 23rd) and they did a full c-panel back up for me of my Lunarpages account so I believe whatever issues I had with my subdomain or directory blog setting on Lunarpages have followed me to Hostgator.

Does anyone have any idea as to how I might resolve this issue? Perhaps a 301 redirect to the proper url for the blog in each directory blogs htaccess file? If so – can you please give me a 301 direct code that might work with a mydomain.com/blog/ blog?

I’ve found that it’s hard to find htaccess codes that work properly with directories. That’s one reason why I’ve ended up using a nowww wordpress plugin on those blogs since I couldn’t find a proper htaccess code to exclude the www from my directory blogs.

Other things that I’ve thought of that could be the cause of the problem:

1. The way my domains were added on to to my account?

2. A problem in the mySQL database for the few sites that are having this peculiar problem.

3. A problem with the themes I’m using? (least likely …)

4. The httaccess code that I’m using in the root of feverishthoughts.com

5. the nowww wordpress plugins that I’m using in the directory blogs to keep www out of the url.

Any ideas? I really need to resolve this issue because the search engines are starting to index my sites with the strange url now too.
