Marketing your Website in Bear Market

August 23, 2009 by Tricia

According to the U.S. based National Bureau of Economic Research, recession is a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months. We usually notice this in gross domestic product, employment, income and sales. As years go by, some business and investment glossaries add to the general definition that recessions are often indicated by two consecutive quarters of contraction of gross domestic product.

There have been and are still many discussions between various business owners, marketers and professionals all over U.S if we really are in a state of recession. It is still in dispute amongst the world leaders if we truly are experiencing a period of recession. Nevertheless, it does bring up a sensitive issue for many businesses. There were questions that have started to come up such as, “Should I continue putting in money on marketing? Or should I set back those overheads until the economy is at a better state?”

Branding is the Key

In these tough times, it is important to maintain a stable base, especially now that growth and stability are primordial questions in a company’s existence. When these two factors are in question, the thoughtless reaction for many businesses is to back off on their marketing labors until a bull market returns. In fact, marketing your business at times of recession is an intelligent move. Rather than viewing an economic downturn as a business death sentence, consider it as a unique opportunity. Companies with bigger budgets might consider spending more on marketing, compared to the rest that have limited resources. They may see this opportunity to quash the competition and literally, out-market them to gain more sales and revenue. If what you are offering is what your customers need, then you are already one step ahead. Customers are vigilantly weighing their options and will persist in searching for high-quality, reasonably priced merchandise and services.

It is likely that your competition will be less visible since many companies just hold back and fail to realize the less obvious opportunities that downturns offer. Therefore, they leave potential market share on the table. Thus, your continued marketing efforts stand out and are more likely to be heard with less clatter in the marketplace.

It is the same principle that you should consider in marketing your website. There are countless business owners that make use of websites as their means of communicating with their prospective customers and targeting their audience. A website provides double visibility for your business and serves as a bridge in getting through to your prospective customers. It also allows you to generate substantial passive income online and establish your brand. It would now be a great opportunity for marketers who truly understand the inner workings of search engine marketing to be able to help in providing the much needed assistance to these companies. They should be able to convey to companies that the best way to gain the fruitful clicks of online shoppers is to gain the widest exposure they can possibly have. The marketer’s goal is to make the companies understand that now is the best time to promote your website with affordable SEO.

Reaching your Audience

Sometimes, you may be in awe if your audience will continue to patronize your products or services when times are rough. If you were able to establish your brand, your supporters will absolutely continue to support and patronize your product and services. Websites greatly contribute in establishing your brand and reaching out to your customers so it is imperative to heighten your visibility at all times, even if we are said to be in bear market. With so many options available, you can always start with economical SEO packages to “test the water” before committing to a long-term marketing campaign and making a larger investment. According to many, search engine marketing can be used effectively for retention and lifetime value and expansion.

Keep in mind that the economy will bounce back sooner or later. Constant marketing at times of recession not only helps preserve momentum, but also is likely to leave an ineffable imprint on your target audience’s memory, making them more likely to return in a more stable economy. Those that fail to put effort in or reduce their marketing efforts in a downturn have a much harder time recovering once the economy turns around.

In hard times, it is vital to promote trust and rapport between you and your customer, to understand their behaviours and needs, and to always be ready in addressing their concerns. Keep on building and managing your brand value in the market by promoting your website and your business will be able to withstand any economic downturn.

The threat of recession leads many to be reactive. Take a proactive approach instead and discover ways to leverage this as an opportunity for your brand. By doing so, your company will come out stronger and long-standing.

4 Things All Articles Must Have – Don’t Forget!

August 23, 2009 by Tricia

The 4 Things You Need to Have in Your Website Articles!

The importance of having articles in websites today, is vital for all internet marketers to be successful. Articles are a key factor in generating traffic to your site and ultimately are what will make it successful. It has become a key element in making a site work and earn a profit. If you are a web owner or site operator then the articles you use, will need to work with your topic and you need to have a strong inclination, on which to use and where to use them.

Articles have been known to be the driving force in generating traffic to a website. Getting better rankings on search engine pages is also done by your articles, often making them the determining factor in that regard. The higher a site ranks the bigger slice of the traffic flow pie he gets. With a huge number in traffic flow, there are more profits and more potential for other income generating schemes as well.

It is not just about stuffing your site with articles, they have certain requirements as well. In order to get the most benefits from your articles, your site will need to have each of the requirements. Each article will need to be interesting to your customers and well written, so they will keep returning to your site for more. People are more likely to recommend good articles to their family and friends.

Here are some tips to help you in making your articles.

1. Keywords and Keyword Phrases.

The keywords and keyword phrases that you use should always focus around your article. People, will usually visit websites to either browse around, or they are looking for specific topics of interest to them. When this happens, a searcher usually goes to a search engine and types in the keywords they are looking for; e.g. Toyota Camry, Meningitis, Tax Lawyer and Etcetera, or it could be anything they want.

That is why it is imperative to have keywords in your article that are related to your site. For example, if you maintain an auto parts site, you must be able to have articles about cars and their parts. You can purchase the tools you need on the internet that are created to help webmasters locate and find the most beneficial keywords and keywords phrases on any given topic. These resources will help you determine the keywords to use in your article.

2. Keyword Density

Now that you have your keywords and keyword phrases, you must use them fully. Having effective keyword density is essential in order for a search engine to be aware of it.

Articles should at least have ten to fifteen percent of keyword density in their content, for search engines to rank a site high in their search results. Getting a high rank is what articles do best for a site.

Basically keyword density is just the number of times you use a keyword or keyword phrase in your article. Of course, the number of times you can use them, will depend on the size of the article. An effective article must have a keyword density that is not too high or too low. If you use them too much you can loose article structure quality, and then you run the risk of appearing overeager, which is a turn off to readers or even to the search engines.

A low number may be ignored by the search engines.

3. Good Articles

Having good content is another reason why keyword ’overkill’ is a bad idea. They must also be regarded as good reading materials. Articles must be able to entertain people as well as provide good information and help for their needs. Articles should be written well with correct spelling and good grammar. If you want people to trust you, make your work good and well thought out.

Often people who visit sites, enjoy looking at facts, statistics and figures. Try to get great information and as many facts as you can. A good and well written article will boost your reputation as an expert in your chosen field or topic. This will help people to feel confident that what they are reading is true and something they can rely on.

4. Linking Articles

If you are going to submit your article to ezines, or add your article to newsletters or other sites, it is crucial that you remember to ALWAYS include a link back to your webpage site.

Have a little resource box with a brief description of your site and it should always be placed right after the articles that you have submitted. If people like your articles, they will most likely click on the link directing them to your site.

Telling Good Traffic From Bad

August 23, 2009 by Tricia

Know How to Increase Good Website Traffic

Serious website owners are looking for ways to increase the traffic to their sites on a continuous basis. Unfortunately, some of these website owners are taken advantage of and fall victim to some of the many traffic schemes and scams found on the internet.

They advertise that their product is sure to produce high traffic volume and generate what sounds like easy money, with the purpose of getting people to purchase their product. Too often the problem is that having a high volume does not automatically mean you will make a large amount of money in sales.

Getting good traffic to your site is when people click on a link related to their topic of interest and then they get directed to a website containing information on that topic. The bottom line is, that the best and most dependable sources of targeted traffic will come from links that people click.

Being able to determine which clicks actually result in sales is vital. To track conversions from click to sales, depending on the type of shopping cart software you are using, you can then create a custom order confirmation page – i.e. the page that is displayed once the transaction is complete.

This is very easy to do if you’re using a payment processing service such as PayPal.

It’s well known that each search engine and each web site has a particular type of user (age, interests etc.), and they all have different interest that will lead them to purchase. All of these things are important for you to know and increase website traffic, so that your advertising dollars will be spent in the most advantageous places.

By following these tips and advice you should be able to increase the traffic to your website dramatically.
